Pockets of Change:

Pockets of Change has helped in many ways including helping to get the troupe on the road doing gigs and making a self-supporting income.

Many ways:

"POC is currently supporting the Undugu Family Cultural Association (UFCA) in Uganda. This is a group of 35 children and young people. Twenty of these youngsters are orphans who live in two group homes in Kampala. UFCA supports itself by performing traditional Ugandan music and dance. In 2007, POC made two grants to UFCA. The first grant of $5000 was to pay the tuition of the 20 children to attend primary and secondary schools. The second was a grant of $3000 to purchase a professional sound system for UFCA's performances."

The overall Mission:

"We provide a mechanism for small grant philanthropy for donors who wish to support identifiable groups of people that one or more of our donors has personally met; whose program and services have been verified by one of our volunteers; who have the potential for becoming wholly or largely self-sufficient; who require and welcome ongoing advice as well as financial support; operate in a location where POC volunteers can provide this support; and where grants of $1000 to $5000 can enable the grantee to achieve an identifiable and measurable objective."
